Remembering DeAndree Watson

Our dear friend, adored colleague, and beloved family member DeAndree Watson passed away recently on July 5, 2020. DeAndree was an incredible young man who touched the lives of everyone around him, and who made a deep impact on the world around him through his life-long dedication to service and justice.
Some of us knew DeAndree as a husband, cousin, brother, or son. Others knew him as a student, a classmate, or a friend. Still others knew him as a coworker, colleague, a mentor, or a fierce advocate for change. Regardless, we all knew him as a young man with an incredibly warm heart, as a dedicated and loyal friend and loved one, and as a fierce advocate for change, and we will all miss him terribly.
In order to honor DeAndree’s life, we are asking for your support in helping offset any memorial costs and other expenses to support his family during this difficult time. Any amount is greatly appreciated. If we exceed our goal, we will use additional funds to make a donation in DeAndree’s name to a cause that he is passionate about (exact location of donation TBD).
For those in the Detroit area, DeAndree’s memorial will be at the Fisher Funeral Home (24501 Five Mile Road in Redford Charter Township) on Saturday, July 18 from 3-6 PM. Due to COVID-19, only 25 people are allowed inside the building at a time and masks are required, though there is room outside to wait if necessary.

Brendan Campbell (Vice President), Shreya Singh (Treasurer), Alys Alley (Chief Programming Office), Kyle Summers (Chief of Staff), and Phil Zeeck (Student General Counsel) formed DeAndree's cabinet when he was Student Body President.
