Remembering Daniel Perez
Donation protected

Last night, the little brother of our dear friend Madeleine, Daniel O'Hagin Perez, was taken from us. He was only 23 years old. Maddy was the first person in her family to receive the call from the investigators.
Maddy told me at 6am this morning, moments before clocking in to her barista shift. When we told her to stay home, take the day off and rest, she responded, "Just getting Daniel's body from the morgue costs $600. I need the hours."
I never knew Daniel, but no 25-year-old should have to arrange for the death and funeral of a beloved family member on her own. It is my intention to do anything we can do to make this transition easier on her and her family.
Daniel is remembered by Madeleine as a passionate, generous individual. A lover of music. As children, Maddy and her siblings would take to the streets of San Francisco and play violin to those passing by. And often times, people would just keep walking. But for Daniel, they really stopped and listened. "He really had a way of connecting to people with his music," Maddy says. "For him, music was healing."
We're hoping to raise enough to not only remove Daniel's body from the morgue, but to also provide the family with a traditional burial and funeral. Any contributions made on Daniel's behalf will go directly to Maddy.
Thank you.
