Sitka's own Dan Evans passed away on the evening of April 16th.

It’s hard to imagine Sitka without Dan. He was a cornerstone of our community– an enthusiastic outdoorsman, who over the course of five decades traversed the island, capturing awe-inspiring photographs of the place he called home. In addition to being an extraordinary adventurer, he was also a warm, playful, and generous husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor, who will be greatly missed.

Dan leaves behind his wife of 42 years and college sweetheart, Janet, his son Logan, and Logan’s wife Stacy and their two young children. We’re raising money to support his family with the numerous expenses associated with Dan’s end-of-life care, which include:
