On May 18, 2025, Cecil Thompson, 82, of Silver Spring, MD, unexpectedly passed away. A passionate advocate for the arts, Cecil was a dedicated actor and producer, bringing theater and performing arts to the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area for over two decades before retiring in the early 2000s.

Cecil was a true character—eccentric, charming, stubborn, loud, self-deprecating, and endlessly humorous. His vibrant personality drew in a diverse and eclectic circle of friends, spanning his years in the theater, travels overseas, and life as a devoted family man.

He leaves behind his brother, John, his daughter, Olivia, and his son, Guillaume (William), along with countless friends and family members, each holding their own cherished, often wild, stories of time spent with Cecil. He was truly one of a kind—a father, brother, husband, and so much more. He lived by the philosophy that “all the world’s a stage” and would no doubt encourage you now to embrace live performances and support local artists in his honor.

As his family navigates this unexpected loss, several costs must be covered to ensure Cecil is laid to rest with dignity and his estate properly handled. These include cremation and funeral home expenses, legal fees related to probate proceedings in Maryland, and professional cleanup services to assist in sorting through his belongings and evaluating assets.
