Remembering Bobby Dodd: Funeral Fund
Donation protected
One of our very favorite people in the world, Bobby Dodd, passed on Wednesday, March 5th due to complications from a stroke. We — his old coworkers and friends — are helping to raise funds to cover funeral (and any other unexpected) expenses for his family.
Bobby. Chef Bobby. Bobbito. A self-described "tortured visionary, martyr, romantic and Maleficant understudy" that hailed from the "winding country roads" of Winchester, Virginia, Bobby was one of the funniest and most wonderful humans we have ever had the privilege of knowing and spending time with — the kind of person you only come across once in a lifetime.
Bobby had the power to instantly lift any room's mood with his warm affection, witty prodding banter, boisterous laughter and performative "tragic diva" persona (and if he was mad at you, get ready for at least 30 minutes of deadening silence and glares until he was ready to forgive you).
Bobby was so many things: a son, a brother, an adoring uncle; a thoughtful and reliable friend; a chef that cared for his kitchens like family; a proud graduate of William & Mary and L'Academie Cuisine; a classy, cultured connoisseur of the finer things in life, like old jazz records and ice cold cans of Coca Cola. He enjoyed being so many different things: an introverted quirky Wes Anderson character, a melodramatic romantic, an innovative and accomplished chef that could turn leftover milk from baristas into house made ricotta cheese.
There will never be another Bobby — and we will miss him and think about all of our wonderful memories together every single day for the rest of our lives.
Any donation amount is appreciated. Thank you.
