Remembering Ben Krasowski
Donation protected
Ben Krasowski passed away suddenly and tragically this summer. He was traveling alone in Fiji when his friends and family lost contact with him. Ben had been struggling with undiagnosed mental illness and those closest to him had been very worried about him for the last 18 months. Ben was reported missing to the US Embassy in Fiji a few weeks ago and on July 27th we were notified that a body had been found matching Ben’s description. The investigation is ongoing as we wait for DNA confirmation, but some of Ben’s belongings were found near the body and we feel confident that the remains are his. The cause of death is unknown. Fijian locals who knew Ben report that he intended to climb a mountain and pray at the top, but never returned. Ben often hiked this mountain for better cell service so he could FaceTime his wife Andrea and son Theo.
This page is meant to raise money for a memorial service for Ben and to support Andrea and Theo. The process of identifying Ben and transporting his remains back home is complicated and expensive. While Andrea should be focusing on grieving and supporting her son, she is also burdened with necessary communication with the Fijian police and US Embassy in Fiji, as well as worrying over so many unanswered questions. We hope to alleviate some of the stress of the situation by contributing to end of life costs and Ben’s memorial and will set aside any remaining funds for Theo.
Ben was a devoted father, husband, friend, son and brother. He was adored by everyone in his life. His laugh was infectious. Ben loved his friends and family unwaveringly and he made sure they knew it. This is such a tragic loss for all of us who were fortunate enough to know and love Ben.
We are heartbroken that Theo won’t have the opportunity to know Ben like we did. If you would like to share a Ben story or words for Theo in the comments we will save them for him.
Thank you for contributing to the celebration of a very meaningful life. Memorial arrangements to follow.
