Remembering Baby Roman: Help the Anthony Family
Donation protected
Through this unimaginable pain Lexi and Kam’s family and friends want to help in any way we can. They are thankful for each and every call, text, thought and prayer. We all struggle with words at a time like this, so here is a message from Romes parents:
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
Our baby boy. We will miss you, for the rest of our lives.
January 9: Kam and I went to Lafayette General to check on Rome, because I realized I had not felt any fetal movement that day. At 10:30pm our worst fear was confirmed. Our baby had no heartbeat, and he was gone. Just like that. Gone. I was immediately put in a room to begin labor.
I labored for 33 hours, with the help of the most amazing nursing staff and with all of our closest family and friends. I cannot explain how this saved me and got me through, what was quite literally a physical and mental hell.
January 11 @ 11:37 am: I delivered our 4 pound 9 ounce 17 inch long stillborn baby. Our angel. Roman Lee Anthony aka Rome.
He has mommy’s lips, daddy’s hands & feet and a head full of black hair.
After labor I had to have a D&C surgical procedure because my placenta would not come out. I was discharged from the hospital on January 13. Kam and I met with the funeral home and planned arrangements, as well as said our final goodbye to our baby on January 14. We went back to the hospital January 15 for a fever/medical scare. We finished our funeral planning on January 16. We buried our baby privately with our immediate family on January 17. I have to have another D&C on January 18.
During our hospital stay, we were able to spend countless hours holding and loving our baby, which we are forever grateful for.
We are thankful for all of the love, the tears, the prayers, the constant checks ins, and the donations.
Our healing journey is just beginning and we will welcome visitors in the coming weeks and months to help get us through. Please do not call, just text first.
The physical and mental agony of all of this is unimaginable, but the love and support helps ease the pain. We know that the love of others will get us through this while we mourn and long for our perfect baby angel.
