Remembering Andrew Migneault on Brown's campus

Donation protected
Andrew James Migneault passed away in late January, shortly before his 32nd birthday.

Wherever he went, Andrew's affability, curiosity, dedication, and quirkiness endeared himself to others. At Brown, he was active in numerous clubs and societies, including the Computer Network Management Group, French House, and Wind Ensemble. He was committed to his studies, focusing on biology, Arabic, and computer science. He was passionate about exploring all the hidden nooks, crannies, attics, and tunnels on campus; the preservation of FAVNCE HOVSE's architectural integrity; and, perhaps most importantly, growing everything from bananas to Mimosa pudica in his dorm room and then at the Urban Environmental Lab's greenhouse. Andrew's parents, Darcy and Ed, were unfailingly warm and generous, their Bellingham house a home away from home during holidays.

Andrew was an incredibly important part of our undergraduate years. Sofia met Andrew outside the Ratty through Brown-RISD Catholic Community friends. Sara and Andrew got to know each other when she borrowed his Freaks & Geeks DVDs in sophomore year.

We want to do something to commemorate Andrew on the campus where we made so many memories together, and we can think of no better way than with a tree. (New England weather won't allow us to plant a palm, but I think Andrew would understand.)  According to Brown Alumni Relations, approximately $1000 will fund the planting of a tree in Andrew's memory, with an accompanying plaque. Any money raised beyond what is needed for the tree will go towards a charity chosen by Andrew's family.

We know that this a financially difficult time for many. Whether or not you are able to donate, it would be wonderful if you could share a memory of Andrew. (Unfortunately, there isn't a way to comment on the page without making the minimum donation of $5. If you would like to share a story but are unable to donate, please contact Sara below, and we'll post your comment as an update; please specify if you would like the message to be posted anonymously.)
