Remembering Andrea "Mama River" & Supporting Shane

Story

On October 4, 2021, Andrea Kimble passed away. Known to many as - Mama River - Andrea will be missed by her local Skykomish River community, by her friends near and far, by her family in Washington and back home in Alaska and she will be deeply missed by Shane Turnbull - Andrea's life partner. Andrea's sudden passing is tragic and has left us wondering how do we carry on when such a force of a woman can leave us so quickly. And so, Shane has asked her friends, family and loved ones to simply go to the river, to touch the water and to talk to Andrea in the places that she loved most. Plans for a memorial service are currently being made and will also be shared on this page. It will likely occur on the weekend of October 16-17 in the Skykomish River Valley.     Andrea's passing has left Shane and Andrea's family in a state of shock, sadness, and epic grief. But Shane will undoubtedly carry on. And so as a community - Shane and Andrea's river community - can we come together to lighten Shane's financial burden in the days, weeks and months to come. There are a lot of expenses associated with the passing of a loved one, which are heightened by the fact that Shane and Andrea have been in the midst of some big life transitions.
