Remembering Alison Wright
Donation protected
National Geographic travel photographer and author Alison Wright passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 23 at the age of 60. Her loving brother Andrew and his wife had flown to be by her side as she died peacefully in the hospital. She was finally back out and traveling for work--after an economically-debilitating two years of being out of consistent work because of the shut downs and restrictions due to the pandemic--doing what she loved and was so skilled at - sharing the world through her images and stories.
Now the clock is ticking. Andrew needs to organize (pack and store) her life’s work, while seeking a safe and permanent home for her archive of iconic images (both print and digital), photo exhibits and computer drives. This is in addition to emptying Alison's packed NYC apartment (which the landlord will be selling) in the next few weeks, settling her affairs, and somehow putting together a memorial service worthy of an incredible life cut short. All of this takes money and that is why we are here.
We need to raise a minimum of $10,000 quickly so we are turning to the best resource Alison had in life--her worldwide network of friends, family and colleagues--to ask for your help. If you ever met Alison or read one of her many brilliant books, you know how much it would have meant to her to be remembered. Let's come together and celebrate Alison's one-of-a-kind, nothing-short-of-amazing life and thank her for all the love she freely gave to each of us. These funds will be used to defray the costs of settling her affairs, transporting and storing the collection of hundred of thousands of images and servers containing Alison's photo archive and hosting a meaningful memorial service in NYC in the next few months. Any additional funds raised will be used to establish a scholarship fund in Alison's memory and for the sustainable support of her massive archive of cultural and travel photography.
Note: No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to your GoFundMe.
