Remembering Abraham Perez
Donation protected
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Abraham Perez, a bright and loving fighter who brought immense joy to all blessed enough to know him. Abraham will be remembered for his contagious smile, sense of humor and innate ability to live each and every day to the fullest. He was 18-years-old.
Abraham battled Pearson's syndrome, a rare mitochondrial disorder that affects infants and young children. It is caused by a mutation in the mitochondrial DNA, which is responsible for producing energy for the body's cells. Children with Pearson's syndrome often have a variety of health problems, including anemia, liver disease, kidney failure and developmental delays. There is currently no cure for Pearson's syndrome, and treatment is very expensive.
While the loss of Abraham weighs heavy, it's critical we unite as a community to support his mother, Veronica - a tremendous and loving caregiver who fought every step of the way with Abraham - and their entire family as they navigate a path forward.
We are asking for contributions to help relieve his parents of outstanding medical costs and celebration of life expenses, as well offer general support to the whole family. Any amount will make a difference and all contributions will go directly to them.
Thank you for the love, support and prayers shown to Abraham's family during this incredibly difficult time. It's the strength of communities like ours that will help get them through.
