It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Abby Bizzett-Johnson, who passed on Tuesday, July 15th, due to complications from pneumonia.
Abby was a loving wife, a loyal friend, and a gentle soul who touched the lives of many. Her warmth, humor, and quiet strength left an imprint on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Abby’s life was defined by compassion and service. She dedicated much of her time and energy to the nonprofit world, building a legacy of helping others. Whether it was connecting people to resources, organizing community initiatives, or fighting for causes close to her heart, Abby had a gift for lifting others up—and she used it every chance she had.
One of her proudest accomplishments was her work with the Prospect House and Civil War Museum, where she played a pivotal role in bringing the museum into the spotlight. Through her publicity work, fundraising efforts, and skillful grant writing, Abby helped secure the support and recognition the Prospect House needed. It’s no exaggeration to say that the Prospect House would not be where it is today without Abby’s diligence, creativity, and support.
Now, Jay is doing his best to handle the many responsibilities that come with this heartbreaking loss. As anyone who has faced the unexpected passing of a loved one knows, end-of-life arrangements come with overwhelming emotional and financial burdens. Jay is seeking help to provide Abby with a simple, dignified memorial—one that honors her life and allows those who loved her to say goodbye.
We are hoping to raise funds to cover:
- Basic funeral and cremation costs
- A modest service for close family and friends
- A headstone for her gravesite/resting place
- Any outstanding medical or related expenses
Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference and be received with deep gratitude. If you’re not in a place to give, please consider sharing this page with others who might be able to help.
Let’s come together to support Jay in honoring Abby’s life, legacy, and the impact she made on countless lives through her compassion and commitment to service. Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.
️ Rest in peace, Abby. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
