Support Fund to Remember Aaron Jacob Hansen
Donation protected
Hello, I am Aaron Hansen's younger brother, Joel.
Aaron was loved by many. And many of you have been reaching out to ask "how can I help?" This is our attempt to simplify the process for those that have it on their hearts to help.
My parents (Laura and Steve) are too humble to ask for anything so I've spun up this GoFundMe page (don't tell them) for the community friends that'd like to help financially for the ways we'd like to remember Aaron Hansen moving ahead.
If you don't know the story, On Saturday, Oct 22nd, Aaron had a tragic rollover MVA and collision on the Coqhilla Highway. He was intubated at the scene and never regained consciousness. Our family gathered beside his bed in ICU in Kamloops for the next four days as we mourned, prayed and reflected on the man he was.
Aaron remained on life support for the next 4 days after the crash in preparation for an organ donation because that was his final wish which we honoured. When Aaron was 16, he signed consent for organ donation because his final wish on this earth was to help others.
On Wednesday, Oct 26th, Aaron went through a successful organ donation and went on to save 5 lives through the gifting of his organs. This journey is incredibly inspiring but still deeply painful.
We have so much to be thankful for in Aaron's life and are so blessed to have had an amazing 29 years with him. In memory of Aaron, we as a family have been chatting over a few ways we could remember his life. Please see some of the top needs below.
Memorials honouring Aaron include:
1) A roadside cross where the accident happened
2) A memorial tree and bench at the Hansen House in Langley
3) A memorial at the community house where he lived and hosted others
Other needs the finances will go toward include:
1) Food/Beverage support for the family the next month
2) A memorial at the Hansen Family Cabin (Sauna or Tree)
3) Scholarships on behalf of Aaron for causes he cares about
If you feel called to give, feel free. If you feel called to pray or sign up to be an organ donor, Aaron would love that even more.
