Remembering Kristi Hite

Hi, my name is Devin Hite and as many of you may know my mom, Kristi has battled medical issues for the past 20 years. In 2003 when my brother was 6 months old she suffered a stroke and contracted bacterial meningitis which required open brain surgery. My mom is a trooper and fought through the next 20 years along with a diagnosis of HHT- Hereditary Hemorrhagic telangiectasia. Unfortunately this disease doesn’t have much research and many doctors in our area have never even heard of it. My mom went through the process of researching different treatments that may work and convinced her doctor to start her on Avastin treatments-usually used for cancer. Along with these treatments and blood transfusions my mom was doing okay for awhile.
A few months ago my parents found out that their hot water heater had been leaking for over a month and were forced out of their home into a travel trailer. My mom then contracted Covid-19 and we found out she also had a blood clot in her liver. Due to her having HHT they were unable to give her blood thinners and the clot was never resolved. This along with non-alcoholic stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver put her into end stage liver failure which then triggered hepatorenal syndrome-causing her kidneys to fail as well ultimately leading to my mom’s passing on April 20th, 2023. We are absolutely heartbroken and know that we will be lost for awhile without her. We never expected to lose her this soon; she would’ve been 55 next month.
This go fund me is mainly for my dad as I know that he couldn’t find it in his heart to ask for help financially. I don’t really have a goal in mind for this fundraiser but it had me put in a number; any amount would be greatly appreciated.
My mom was admitted at the hospital for a couple of weeks before she passed and it is likely going to be a large medical bill. My dad has taken time off work to be with my mom in her final weeks and is still paying for the renovations to their home, their mortgage and now has final expenses to get my mom laid to rest. If you are able to donate it would be really helpful for my family to get through this trying time-and transitioning to life without my mom. Otherwise we are appreciative of prayers, good vibes and shares of this gofundme. If you have questions please respect my dad and brother’s privacy and reach out to me. Thank you.
