Remedios Recovery

Donation protected

Today is my friend Kendra’s Birthday. For her birthday, I’m asking that you keep Kendra and her family in your prayers and donate to help support her family if you feel called to do so.

Her dad had a brain aneurysm on February 19, 2019. This  completely turned their lives around. His brain is fragile and although though he has made some progress mentally, his physical state has yet to catch up. They are at a constant battle with insurance and have been moved to many rehab facilities in the past year. I’m in awe of Kendra’s ability to remain so positive and strong, while being one of the finest caretakers anyone could ever dream of having in a daughter. She’s as loyal as they come! I hope you have a wonderful day, sweet friend and I pray this next year is filled with an abundance of blessings.

Here’s a post Kendra  made on February 19, 2020

“Dear February 19th,

I can’t believe we meet again.. it doesn’t seem like it’s been one whole year already. It seems like yesterday hearing the most devastating news of my life. This is the day the Remedios family’s lives changed forever. Our worlds turned up side down and it will never ever be the same. February 19th was a regular day for everyone... me at school, mom, dad, and Colby at work. In one split second the world shattered, and it’s been an up hill battle since. I’ve heard of brain aneurysms and knew people usually died from them, but you never think it’s going to happen to your family. My dad started out in a coma in Parkland hospital, I was unsure if he was going to survive. I’ve never seen a sight so heart breaking and gut wrenching in my life. The thoughts of losing my father when we have so much life to live.. was a thought I could not bear. Thankfully the Lord allowed for my father to pull through this tragedy and work miracles. My dad was in Parkland neuro ICU for 38 days. He has had 12 transfers since. Its been an on going rollercoaster... and I honestly can’t find any words fitting enough for how difficult this journey has been. My dad works his hardest every single day just to do the simple things in life. He is having to relearn every aspect of his life and it’s the most challenging thing to witness. With that being said, I am extremely grateful for how far he has come. In one short year he has cognitively gotten a lot better. I hope and pray for more healing as the years go on. Unfortunately, my dad has not healed at all physically.. so this is extremely challenging for my dad to accept. His mental state is very fragile and I pray one day he can take care of himself and be more independent. As if the brain aneurysm and my father’s well being isn’t hard enough... we have our other battles with insurance constantly! My mother is literally Wonder Woman. Everything she does for my dad as a caregiver as well as constantly fighting with insurance is just unreal... the amount of respect and admiration I have for my mother is indescribable.
In many aspects my father is very different now, but the same Carlos is still in there. When the doctors said “y’all have a long road ahead on this journey..” I never knew they meant a life time... unfortunately, my father’s life has changed forever and this is still only the beginning.
I wanna say a huge thank you to all of our friends and family for the unconditional support, love, and prayers during this time. The Remedios family loves you all more than you know! Please keep praying for papa bear to recover and continue to progress!

Love,
Papa bear’s biggest fan.
