In Memory of Fred McDuff

With broken hearts, the time has come to make family, friends and colleagues of Fred McDuff aware of his very unexpected and rapid decline in health. Diagnosed with both kidney and liver failure, Fred is currently surrounded by family and friends as the hospital staff keeps him comfortable during his transition from the amazing life he has lived while on this earth.
Fred began his federal career in the mid-80s at Tinker Airforce Base in Midwest City, OK. During his time at Tinker, he started his tenure as an active unionist with the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), battling for the rights of federal employees and fighting for fair and equitable treatment for all people in hopes of everyone having the opportunity to make a better life for themselves. Nineteen years ago, Fred took a job with AFGE’s national office as a Legislative Political Organizer (LPO) and devoted his career to all things legislative and political in nature. Teaching his own practices, he schooled countless unionists on the art of lobbying before members of Congress and is always quick to explain the importance of such to ALL Americans, not just unionists or federal employees.
During all his years of service throughout the nation, Fred met hundreds of people (if not more) and probably every person easily became his friend. The most important person he met during his travels and career was undoubtedly his wife, Shannon. Eventually, the two became inseparable and they married January 29, 2014. Along with Shannon, Fred shares a love for his daughter, Gabi and his stepson, Wyatt.
Myself, along with many fellow unionists, humbly ask for donations in support of his wife and children, during a time of tremendous financial burden that will only worsen in his absence. Thanks to each of you in advance. – Amy
