My name is Isaac Olusegun. I am a Nigerian lawyer and a single father of three children.

In 2024, after becoming concerned about the treatment of my son, I commenced proceedings before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario in Isaac Olusegun v. Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (HRTO File No. 2024-56483-I). I also commenced legal proceedings relating to my own experiences involving Carleton University and CPA Ontario, as well as proceedings in the Federal Court concerning issues that I believed affected immigrants, including barriers to equal employment opportunities despite having the necessary qualifications and experience.

Throughout these matters, I represented myself. I believed that using lawful processes to seek accountability was the appropriate way to address concerns affecting both my family and other immigrants.

Since commencing these proceedings, my family and I have experienced significant hardship. I have struggled to secure stable employment, my children have experienced disruptions in their education, and we have faced considerable financial and personal challenges. As a single father raising three children, these circumstances have become overwhelming.

Based on my experiences, I have come to believe that pursuing these legal matters has contributed to many of the difficulties my family has faced. Whether or not others share that view, the reality is that we are now in an extremely difficult situation. I am currently living in a shelter, facing financial hardship, and trying to provide stability for my children while continuing to navigate ongoing legal and family matters.

At this stage, I am seeking financial assistance to enable my family and me to return to Nigeria, where I have family support and a better opportunity to rebuild our lives with dignity and stability.
