This week was long and ended with a short hospital stay but getting to spend the weekend in my own bed and very thankful for that. Pneumonia again, an enlarged spleen, and a chronic pulmonary embolism mean an expedited visit with hematology/oncology next week. Exhausted and overwhelmed but God is bigger! Nutritionist appointment was great! I want to try to avoid a feeding tube because any type would be risky to place right now. She had some new ideas for protein and a few days of purées to rest my guts. We are working with vitamins and nutrients instead of prescriptions and I appreciate that so much. Long Covid Clinic made me feel like there is hope for the dysautonomia symptoms. We are starting by attacking high histamine levels. My mast cells are causing allergic reactions to everything so we need to calm that before making any other changes. I like that I wasn’t handed a handful of prescriptions and made feel like too much trouble. He listened to me, gave clearly educated advice, and even encouraged sharing when I find studies that may be helpful in my situation (this is insanely rare). I will spend the weekend taking antibiotics and resting. We will regroup on Monday to check labs again and go over test results that come in over the weekend. We are so grateful for the prayers and are praying this weekend for an improvement in infection and pain.
