What could be worse than the image in your mind of dogs locked in a shelter while the outside burned around them.
This is what our team are facing today as we have all woken to the jolting news that our remote shelter in Imsouane was on fire.
The scenes of our little cabin engulfed with flames took our breath away.
We braced ourselves for the news of dead dogs and cats, badly burned animals not able to move. Did anyone make it out? Are they all dead? Are they covered in burns somewhere, hiding, waiting fro us to find them.
So far there are no casualties.
Blessed by the gods, the neighbour was quick thinking and released the back sections adjacent to the cabin.
40 dogs are now on the road and 100 need to be moved urgently
But to where?
Our best option is to borrow a section of the horse ranch to make temporary shelters so all can be moved safely.
We need trucks to move them
We need to hire temporary staff as we have barely any team
We need water to be trucked in for the still burning embers of the cabin
We need building supplies to build 4 new sections for 100 dogs.
- Fencing, poles, roofing, tools, sand, cement
We need builders
We need an excavator to move soil on the land the dogs will go to.
We need palettes
We need dog bowls
We need buckets for water
We need so much and yet the most important thing we need right now is you.
