Relieve permanent cancer side-effects
Donation protected
Hullo, I'm Angela. I had cancer surgery/chemo/radiotherapy in 4 different hospitals. It worked! I was so relieved - but then, as a side-effect of the surgery, I developed incurable, progressive lymphoedema in my leg. At its worst, this can become elephantitis. I have spent 10 years fighting to control the deterioration in my leg. I've used compression garments, MLD and a pneumatic leg-bag which is very time-consuming. I have lost so much strength from having to sit with my leg raised. Then in January 2025, to my great joy, I discovered that the Oxford Lymphoedema Practice (OLP) is doing pioneering surgery called LVA to attach the lymphatic system to veins so that the excess fluid can drain away. It is so new, it isn't available on the NHS. So this life-changing surgery will cost me £20,000. I am a pensioner. I can't leave it any longer whilst I try to save up because Professor Furniss said my leg is deteriorating and it is only just good enough to operate on. Please help. You could set me free!
