Relieve Norm from Medical Expenses

My name is Peggy Fitzpatrick. Recently, my brother-in-law has been facing serious health challenges, which have significantly impacted not only him but also our family. We’re hoping to lighten his financial burden during this difficult time, and any support would mean the world to us. He has been in and out of hospitals for the last month. Norman has vascular disease and stage 4 kidney failure. First, he was rushed to Evansville with RSV, and then he spent 5 nights in Barnes after a procedure to get his heart healthy enough for a new heart valve. He should have been able to come home the 1st evening after they placed 2 new stents in his bypass grafts from previous heart surgery, but apparently some plaque got stuck, and he had to go back into surgery and have angioplasty to move it along. He was in excruciating pain. Later we found that the excruciating pain was due to him having another heart attack. They thought he would be able to come home, but it didn't happen the next day either. We had traveled up there thinking he was coming home just to leave him again.

He was doing a lot better, or so we thought, and we were 1/2 way there on Sunday Mar 2 to bring him home and got a call that they had given him a medicine with iron to build him up and he had an allergic reaction to it and was put in Cardiac ICU on a by-pap machine to help him breathe. We continued up there to give his moral support because he is very depressed about this. He has a 16 yr old daughter at home that is worried about her dad and he worries about her. It a total of 7 days we spent 6 of them going to specialist for his vascular disease and going in to the hospital at Barnes. It is a lot of money in gas and food that being on fixed incomes has really hampered us. He will being going back on to the hospital for valve replacement as soon as he heals.
