Flood Relief Trip to Pakistan - From KW to KPK
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Zerka from Ontario, Canada! I am raising money to donate to victims of the Pakistan floods. My parents immigrated from Pakistan in 1984, with many loved ones still there. While the floods do not directly impact them, over 33 million people are displaced, and the country is destroyed. With over 750K livestock killed, 1.7 million homes destroyed, and 17,500 schools damaged, Pakistan needs help. I'm a small business owner located in Ontario, Canada. We have the privilege of sharing Pakistan's incredible culinary side via our tiny bakery cafe. My mother (and business partner) will be going on a trip back home in the fall, to provide relief work to those affected; any funds raised will be used for relief work purposes only, while personally financing airfare.
As a country, Pakistan contributes less than 1% of global greenhouse emissions and is the 5th largest country in the world (by population). Pakistan is being penalized due to the carbon footprints of larger countries. There is a critical stance to note that climate change, aka these floods, are a direct result of structural inequality, bad policy-making and imperialistic power systems. No amount of charity/social giving can replace or reach better than those in the state with accessible resources. Thousands of people have died in these floods, and millions have been left without food, water, or medical aid. In conversation with locals, we have learned the need for tents, medicines, food, and water are the most vital right now. We feel called to provide aid in the ways which we are able to during a tragic time. Sharing all relief work via our small businesses' Instagram @thepulaogals and this feed here - with your direct donation, we avoid any overhead costs and allow you to see where your money is being directly donated to. If you have any questions, please reach out.
