Walker Blair Relief Fund

Here is Walker's story, shared by his aunt Lala (Laurie):

"Haines, Alaska is a small, very tightly knit town in Southeast Alaska. This is where Walker lives, with his longtime girlfriend Jenae and his dog Red in an apartment at his friend David’s house.  Rain is not unusual for this part of Alaska, but the rain that came on December 1st and 2nd is only seen in Haines every 25 years or so. Tuesday, it rained almost 8 inches, and Wednesday saw another 3-4 inches. Between the rain and the several feet of snow already on the ground melting, it made for extremely dangerous conditions.


Walker works for the Haines Borough and was out clearing roads and ditches the morning of December 2nd. He had been on shift since 3:00 am. Haines was flooding, and it was all hands on deck. He happened to be working on Beach Road that morning, the road where he and Jenae lived.  Walker heard a noise unlike anything he had ever heard before, looked back toward their house to see the mountain above sliding down toward their home, and he watched as the mudflow wiped the home, with Jenae, David, and Red in out into the Bay. A more horrific scene one should not witness. As of this writing, Jenae and David are still missing. Walker is Haines strong, and with the help of his family and community, he will recover."  

Walker watched his entire life, his girlfriend, friend, dog, home and all of his belongings disappear in the matter of seconds. Please help in anyway you can, whether it's a donation, share, or PRAYER.
