Relief from my car accident and loss of vehicle.

Hello everyone!

For those reading who may not know us;
My name is Cody, and together with my wonderful partner Em, we are doing our best to manage our cozy apartment with our two pups, Daruk and Davos, our cat Squid, and the other little critters we care for.

Life has taken a turn recently, one that has unfortunately cost us heavily.
On September 15th, I was involved in a car accident when another driver took an un-signaled left turn across Niagara Falls Boulevard at a high rate of speed. I was left with little reaction time and T-boned their car, resulting in our new-to-us G20 Chevy Van being totaled. The other driver has admitted fault, but I was left with more problems than just the loss of the vehicle. The accident has left me with a fractured tibia, a possible PCL tear, and other minor medical complications (whiplash, concussion, etc.) that will keep me out of work for at least the next two months on disability, severely impacting the income to our home.

We had purchased the Chevy Van less than two months ago as our previous car needed $8,000 in repairs to pass inspection and would continue to need more thereafter. We went with the van because it accommodated our lifestyle perfectly, being able to hold Em's wheelchair along with crates for Daruk (especially since he is Em's service dog) and Davos. After using what little savings we had to purchase it, we still have all but one payment left on my loan of $6,000, where even if repairs were possible, they would start at upwards of $8,000 as most of the front-end bodywork is destroyed and a majority of the components in the engine compartment were also damaged beyond use.

Disability will barely cover any bills for our household, let alone rent and groceries, and until I am able to return to work and lawyers are able to work through our case, we are unable to afford our general living expenses.

Before this accident occurred, we were also attempting to put away money for Davos as he needs surgery for a partially torn CCL as a result of neglect from his former home. That plan has now been put on the backburner due to the accident, all the while Davos suffers until we can get him patched up.

Having at least one working vehicle is critical to our household for me to maintain employment, and with Em being chronically ill, we may have to go to the doctors/emergency care at any given moment.

We know times are tough for everyone right now and are only getting tougher, but without community, what else do we have?
If you are in a position to donate in any capacity, it is appreciated more than any words can express. That being said, please refrain from doing so if it could put too much financial strain on yourself.
Thank you for taking the time to read this; that alone is comfort desperately needed.
