A message from Whitney:
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Whitney Gomez and my husband is Spencer Gomez. We’ve been married for 9 years and have a sweet little “chug” (chihuahua/pug) named Bosley. We moved to Georgia from Colorado in 2011 and recently bought a home in Decatur last October. In January, after trying to conceive for a couple years, we finally got a positive pregnancy test!
We’ll be having a little girl in late September/early October. We are so elated! I’m now 33 weeks pregnant with 7 weeks to go and I was just let go from my job about a month ago. I was shocked when it happened. I had insurance through the company and I was promised a 6 week paid maternity leave package. I was given a severance to be paid through September 10th and my insurance will transfer to Cobra in October.
Although this helps me and my husband for a short time, we will be very financially strapped when our daughter, Emersyn (Emmy), arrives which is a very unexpected and stressful surprise. I am so grateful for the outpouring of love and support by my friends/family in the coffee/food industry. It makes me realize one of the main reasons I got into this industry in the first place, the community.
Sometimes this world and the people in it can disappoint you, but I have never felt more love and support from my special community than I do right now; that is what I choose to focus on. You are all incredible people and I’m so lucky to be in this crazy world with you! Thank you for your continued love and support!
