Relief for the Keese Family

Donation protected

If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting the Keese family, you know what a kind, giving, hardworking, family they are.  With John’s illness and the loss of Debbie’s job this amazing family is struggling.

We met Debbie, John, and their two youngest sons a few years ago at a poultry show here in the Pacific Northwest.  John and Debbie’s dedication to their sons and their poultry hobby was evident from that first show.

At every show they have always been thefirst to jump in and lend a helping hand no matter what the task.  Duties like sweeping, clerking, helping run the junior shows, setting up and tearing down the shows are just a small sample of what they do to help. The boys have become respected showmen and competitors; they compete with intensity, kindness and humility.

The poultry scene in the PNW is much richer and kinder with the involvement of the Keese family and we are asking for you to help this family that has given so much to our hobby here in the PNW.

We have set up this fund to help the family with medical expenses and everyday needs (gas money, bills, groceries).

Any donation at this time will offer relief to the Keese family during this challenging time.

Please see Debbie’s story about John below:
Over the last five years John has had a number of different health issues. Congestive heart failure that he recovered from then a heart attack two years later. He continued to work full time as a chemist never missing a beat. In April of 2018 John had an infection developed in his left heel. Within a few days it turned into a staph infection causing sepsis and kidney failure. It was determined the infection was in the bone and amputation was necessary to save his life. Amazingly enough we weathered through and amazingly enough John was able to return to work by September with a new prosthetic leg. Life was returning to its rhythm. We were adjusting to life with an amputation. January 2020 I took John to the ER. I had some concern about memory and affect changes. I thought he may have had a stroke. While waiting discharge after they found nothing he had a stroke was hospitalized for a few days and discharged. Within 24 hours he had another stroke and went back to ER there was nothing they could do. It was determined he had full blockage in his left carotid artery. He had several smaller strokes but was still functioning but unable to work while recovery. During his recovery his cardiologist informed us that his heart had weakened to the point of needing a defibrillator Surgically placed internally on his heart. March John became very weak and non responsive. This was the beginning of COVID 19 so he had to go to the hospital alone by ambulance. It was determined he was septic and needed it antibiotics. During his 2 week hospitalization they decided to remove his defibrillator . Sometime during this hospitalization he suffered another stroke that significantly weakened his right side. He spent 2 weeks in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. He is currently in physical, occupational and speech therapy 5 x a week.
