Relief for Rose On Her Road to Recovery
Donation protected
My dear friend Rose* was involved in a hit and run in NYC while making an Uber Eats delivery on her bike. Doctors have confirmed she sustained severe internal injuries. Rose now faces a lengthy recovery, and many medical bills on top of living expenses.
I met Rose through a professional development program, where she seeks to study to become an international lawyer, so she can help other asylum seekers.
Rose is a trans woman from Bangladesh who moved to the US in 2017 to seek LGBTQ asylum. Growing up in a strict Muslim environment, her sexuality and gender identity weren’t tolerated. She has been a victim of severe violence, as well as stalking and intimidation. Even her father has taken several attempts on her life, some of which have left her permanently handicapped.
Until recently, Rose was unhoused for three and half years. Her temporary shelter was able to place her in government-assisted housing—however the possibility of eviction looms without the means to pay rent.
Rose has been through so much hardship in her young life. But I believe she can overcome this if we come together.
Rose didn’t grow up in America and doesn’t have the same support system that you or I might have. From the bottom of my heart, I ask that you give in any way you can: make a donation to cover medical bills and living expenses; share Rose’s story on your social media accounts; and finally, she’s asks that you pray for her.
*Rose asked us not to use her full name out of fear for her personal safety
