My name is Glenn and I have spent some time in and around Mazunte, Mexico. In my travels there I have encountered amazingly kind and hospitable people. On May 29th, this area was hit by a category 2 level hurricane. Hurricane Agatha developed quickly and struck within two days, meaning that very few people had time to evacuate and truly prepare for the storm. I am working with local resident Mariana Gutierrez Romero, who runs the local hotel, Punta Placer.
Because GoFundMe doesn't work in Mexico, I have started this fundraiser on her behalf. All funds will be transferred to me, and then every dollar raised will be sent to her via PayPal. We are setting a goal of $5000, but anything helps.
Marianna plans to allocate the money to families around Mazunte and to alleviate at least a little of the burden for those who have lost everything. Please do not hesitate to contact me, or Mariana, via GoFundMe if you have any questions.
A few words from Mariana;
Hello friends from all over the world. My name is Mariana Gutierrez Romero and I run a small hotel in the Oaxacan coast. If anyone has ever been here you know the uniqueness and magic of our little paradise.
On May 30th the hurricane Agatha destroyed entire towns and houses. The rivers flooded and thousands of people lost everything.
If it is in your heart to help we will forever be grateful. Anything helps.
We will try to help anyone we can specially those who lost their homes. In particular the workers from my hotel whose houses flooded by the river.
Thanks for reading and sharing. Help us bring the magic back to our little paradise.
❤️
