My mom is giving my sister the gift of life.

On May 5, my 23-year-old sister, Madi, will receive a kidney transplant and my mom is the one donating her kidney to save her life.

While this is an incredible blessing, it also means a long and difficult recovery for both of them. My mom will be healing from major surgery while also caring for Madi full-time. Madi won’t be able to drive for at least six weeks, so my mom will be handling everything, appointments, daily care, and helping her through recovery.

With both of them out of work, the financial strain is overwhelming. Between medical expenses, medications, and everyday bills, the costs add up quickly. On top of that, Madi needs a safe and reliable car for her ongoing care. Once she’s cleared, she’ll need to travel to Tampa General three times a week for follow-up appointments.
