Relief for Lisa: Donate to Her Recovery Fund

You may have noticed that our dear friend, Lisa, has not been very active on social media for quite some time. Our cherished friend has been suffering in silence, battling extreme neck pain and debilitating migraines for over a decade. Over the course of the last few years, she has seen multiple specialists, tried countless treatments, physical therapy, pain management, injections, ablations, and nothing has provided any relief. In addition to severe cervical spinal disorders, she also discovered in January that she had a very rare cyst in her shoulder bone. In order to confirm her shoulder pain was not related to her neck disorders, she underwent surgery to remove the cyst. During that surgery, it was discovered she also had a torn rotator cuff which required repair. Her one week recovery turned into six. She was forced to take short-term disability at that time and had to stop working her part time job at Club Pilates. She then had to wait six months to fully heal in order to be assessed by the next doctor, a neurosurgeon, to plan for neck surgery. During that time, rehab, injections, and pain management continued, to no avail.

Lisa is going to need a cervical fusion, where several vertebrae will be removed, replaced with donor bone, and fixed into place with plates and screws. This will hopefully take the pressure off her spinal cord and nerves. It will be a long and painful recovery, but, if all goes well, will provide her with the relief she so desperately needs. Lisa is currently working with a surgical coordinator to plan her surgery date. To recover from surgery, she will have to turn to long-term disability, which will only cover 60% of her current pay. This will not cover her medical and monthly expenses.

Lisa has dedicated the last 25 years to helping
at-risk youth as a juvenile probation officer. She has poured her heart and soul into selflessly caring for others during their time of need, family crisis, and ongoing trauma. She has raised an amazing young man as a single mother, never asking for help or praise. She has always been there for her friends and family, bending over backwards to help those she loves. I’m counting on those of you who care about Lisa to step-up and help her make it through this rough financial spot and get her back on the path to a full recovery. Lisa has never been comfortable asking for help. I had to twist her arm in order to post this fundraising request. I am hoping we can work together to help take care of Lisa, as she has taken care of us, and as she finally takes care of herself.

We are grateful for every dollar donated. Thank you in advance for your support.
