Relief for Lebanese families affected by lockdown
Donation protected
Hunger and poverty levels are on the rise in Lebanon amidst COVID-19 lockdown measures with millions unemployed and struggling. After 8 months of raging protests throughout Lebanon against governmental corruption, the COVID-19 lockdown is just the cherry on top, leaving hundreds of thousands of Lebanese people desperate and hungry. The currency is deteriorating and Lebanon is facing economic collapse.
Supermarket prices have doubled and even quadrupled on essential foods and products amidst the free fall of the Lebanese Lira. According to an article by CNN (https://edition.cnn.com/2020/04/28/middleeast/lebanon-hunger-aid-coronavirus-intl/index.html), 75% of the Lebanese population (approx. 5 million individuals) are in need of support.
This is why I have put together this GoFundMe campaign. All funds raised will be used to support families in urgent need of aid by means of providing essentials including grocery hampers, medication, diapers and clothing. Additionally, all supplies will be bought from small Lebanese businesses thereby supporting local business growth - a first step in creating jobs and developing the local economy. My cousin, Lila Chehade, will be withdrawing the funds on my behalf and transferring them to me so that I can directly use them in Lebanon to purchase all the goods mentioned above for the purpose of donations.
On behalf of the Lebanese people, I am deeply appreciative for any contributions or donations.
