On September 3rd, 2020 Lance was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Two days later Lance had surgery which removed 90% of the cancer. He waited on pathology results to determine next steps and learned he has a form of high grade bladder cancer. The recommendation was to remove the bladder and replace it with a neobladder (tissue from his intestines). If he doesn’t do the surgery he has the risk that the cancer will spread and will have check-ups every three months for the rest of his life and potentially multiple surgeries to remove the tumors. At this time the cancer has been contained in the bladder and so he has decided to do the surgery. There will be some life style changes for Lance.
As you all know the economy and oilfield has been slow. Lance is the sole provider for his family. He hasn’t worked for the past five months and now it’s projected he will be off for another three months. So that means they are in a financial hard spot right now.
Right now Lance and Heather need to be able to focus on Lance’s health, without the additional stress of figuring out how to meet their day-to-day expenses, let alone any additional expenses that arise due to the cancer.
Lance will give the shirt off his back to help wherever needed. He’s very active in the community with his dedication to minor hockey. He enjoys coaching his children in hockey. Lance himself enjoys being active and he hopes the neobladder will allow him to continue playing hockey, coaching hockey, and playing baseball.
The hope is we can give Lance and Heather the financial help they need to be able to focus 100% on Lance’s health and ensure he’s around for their young family for a long, long time. We are reaching out and realize this is an extremely tough time for everyone and we are sensitive to adding any extra pressure to your already challenging times. Thank you everyone for your donations, prayers, and shares. It’s very much appreciated.
