My daughter Jackie Shaffer is currently out of work since September 15th. She is potentially facing her 6th brain surgery. She is 38. She has had Chiari Malformation since she was 13. There is no cure. only medicine and surgeries. She has a vp shunt in her head because as a complication of one of her chiari surgeries she developed hydrocephalus. they believe now the shunt is over draining. They would have to put her through another surgery to tie it off because it is already on the highest setting which is draining the least. Her life is being affected by all this. She can’t work, can’t drive, has a lot of pain in her head, having dizzy spells to the point someone has to grab her before she goes down. The only time she gets relief is when she is laying flat in her bed. Her temporary disability money ran out at the end of November. Her husband works full time and is also taking care of my daughter. We are trying to help them out keep up with the bills without Jackie’s income. Jackie has a neurosurgeon appointment January 8th. If things get worse in the next 10 days, she is to go to ER at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa.
