In light of the devastating situation with COVID-19, Immortal Beloved and Barber of Hell's Bottom, for the foreseeable future, have stopped all operations. We are closed for business. This means that our stylists and barbers are without income.
Please help us provide for emergency needs for our Immortal Beloved and Barber of Hell's Bottom families.
I am organizing this effort because I am married to the owner. I don't work at the salon, nor do I have anything to do with managing it. I'm just a human being, devastated by the fact that so many people I know and have come to love are suddenly, overnight, without income. I have contributed $10,000 to seed-fund the campaign, from my own money that I made at my own job. I want to be very clear about this: every dime of this fund will go directly into the hands of stylists and barbers. Not one dime will go to me, anyone in my family, or the business itself.
Logistics are challenging. Go Fund Me allows two options for withdrawal: to the organizer or to one other person. (But no more than one other person per campaign.) With the requests we have paid out so far, I have just directly Venmo-d the stylists. I will absorb the 3% Venmo transaction cost as an additional donation from me, so that every dollar you gave here goes to the stylist who needs help. It's not ideal, but it's what we've got. Again, if you want to make sure that your money goes directly to a specific, single person, please reach out to them instead! Almost all of our folks now have their own campaigns up as well.
If there are any unused funds when we get through this, they will be donated to a similar relief effort for other service industry workers.
