My name is Roshane Ellison, and I’m originally from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. A few weeks ago, my hometown of Burnt Savannah was devastated by Category five hurricane Melissa that tore through homes, schools, and our community — leaving behind unimaginable destruction.
My family, friends, and community lost a lot during the hurricane — roof were ripped off, furniture destroyed, and personal belongings were destroyed. Like so many of our communities in St. Elizabeth, my family, friends, and neighbors are now struggling to find clean water, food, and a safe place to sleep.
Despite everything, I am deeply grateful that my family and friends made it through safely. But the road to recovery will be long and difficult.
This GoFundMe has been created to help the my family, friends, and community rebuild and restore stability. The funds raised will go toward:
Rebuilding and repairing the damaged house and Burnt Savannah Primary schools (roof, walls, flooring)
Replacing essential items like beds, clothing, and appliances
Supplying food, clean water, and emergency supplies for families in need
Supporting local relief efforts to help elderly and vulnerable neighbors
Every single donation — no matter how small — makes a huge difference. Your kindness will help bring hope and dignity back to people who’ve lost so much.
If you can’t donate, please share this page with your friends, family, and social media — spreading the word helps just as much.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your compassion, generosity, and prayers. Together, we can help rebuild lives and restore hope in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.
Thanks,
Roshane Ellison
