Relief for Day Wage Earners- Together for Humanity

35 percent of the total 61 million labor workers in Bangladesh have a daily earning. The financial constraints faced by daily wage earners due to the pandemic restrictions have made procuring food for themselves and their families increasingly difficult.
While COVID-19 has affected us all in adverse ways, some around the world have it way tougher than many of us. Bangladesh’s fight with COVID-19 is burdened by its large population within the poverty line and extremely inadequate medical resources. When majority of the population tries to make ends meet, they put themselves and those around them at risk consequently, in turn aggravating the spread of the virus and its subsequent dire consequences.
We at BacharLorai strongly recognize the need to stand by those who are the most vulnerable by providing them with basic food supplies to prevent them from stepping out of their homes in search of food. To facilitate this cause during the holy month of Ramadan, we have partnered with JAAGO whose extensive reach to rural communities allows us to get to those who need our support the most.
We are pleased to be a part of the ‘Together for Humanity’ project in collaboration with JAAGO and Volunteer for Bangladesh to expedite this emergency response. Bangladeshi Student Associations from four university campuses in Canada have also joined hands to raise funds for this initiative.
The funds raised from this campaign will be directed towards supporting socioeconomically disadvantaged populations with food during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jaago’s project model aims to feed families in both rural and urban areas. Your donation can help provide:
· 7 Days Relief Package for a family of four – CAD $13 / Taka 890
· 15 Days Relief Package for a family of four – CAD $22/ Taka 1490
· 30 Days Relief Package for a family of four – CAD $43/ Taka 2980
The contents of the food relief packages will be as follows:
· Rice
