Help David stand and get back on the diamond

I am setting this fundraiser up on behalf  of my dad 

On May 27, David entered the hospital on the advice of his doctor. What he initially thought were symptoms of Covid-19 was actually a bacterial infection in his left foot/ankle.

His primary doctor was fearful that the infection would lead to sepsis. An operation was performed to try and clean it out and save his foot. Unfortunately, that was not possible and David’s lower left leg was amputated below the knee.

After almost a month of hospitalization and rehab David  is now home to begin facing his next challenges. The next step is to start the process of being fitted for a prosthesis for his residual limb.

David has several main goals for the near future.  First is to learn to walk and function with a new prosthetic limb.  Second is to find a new job after losing his to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Finally, David wants to reacquire the physical capability to continue his umpire
career.  David has been an umpire for 18 years.  He has worked at the youth, high school and collegiate levels. He has also been on the training staff of his local umpire association training new umpires for the last ten years.

David is very hopeful and confident that he can overcome the obstacles he is facing and return to the diamond in 2021. He loves the sport of baseball and
umpiring is his passion.

After losing his insurance due to his job loss, David is facing some financial challenges with the cost of a prosthesis and some home remodeling to accommodate his disability.  

 Any donations made to this page will go directly to David and are greatly appreciated and will be used to offset David’s Lost wages, medical, and remodeling bills.
