I am making this Go Fund Me on behalf of my sister, Chasity, who has the hardest time asking for help herself.
My sister lost her son last year, on June 8th. While that in itself is already a horrible tragedy that no one should have to live through, life hasn’t let up on her since.
Her husband has had a slew of health issues resulting in hospital visits, including a heart attack, (not his first) pneumonia, and just last week, 2 mini strokes. He has been unable to work for a while due to these health issues, so Chasity was already taking on the support of their family alone.
Things finally started to look up recently as her husband passed his CDL test last week, and was about to start working again, relieving some of the financial burden. And the very next day, he had his two strokes. And if the strokes weren’t enough, he has since had multiple falls while in the hospital and again in the rehab facility, one which resulted in yet another hospital visit.
My sister has taken multiple leaves from work in this last year, trying to get her mental health in check from all of the grief and emotional and financial stress that this last year has brought her. Her PTO is used up, there are no more paid days that she can take off, although she desperately wishes she could be with her husband as he recovers in rehab.
Chasity is the kind of person that everyone turns to, myself included, when they need help. She is always the rock for the people she loves, and I want us to be that for her now. The mental stress, the emotional anguish, the pressure to make ends meet, all while trying to keep it together and be there for her husband and her kids, is taking a toll on her. Life is already ridiculously expensive, even for 2 income households. So imagine a one income household, a multitude of medical bills (with more on the way), unpaid time off work, topped with the ever present grief of losing your child.
All the time people ask “is there anything I can do?” “Do you need anything?” And the honest answer is yes. Any little bit helps. $1, $2, it all adds up to relieving some of the helplessness that she feels.
