Relief for Bree

Donation protected
**UPDATE 12/25/23**
Breanna has spent the last few days in Kentucky at the hospital. They have been managing her pain and did an MRI. The MRI showed clear unlike the CT scan. The doctor at UK thinks her CRPS has worsened to the point she can’t bear weight, walk, or stand on that leg any longer. The doctor at UK thinks she needs a spinal cord stimulator done asap for her pain. She is still currently in the hospital trying different medications to help with pain before she is allowed to go home.

Bree is so grateful for everyone who has donated, shared, or prayed for her! Thank you all so much!

Hi, my name is Kasandra Harless and I am raising funds for my cousin, Breanna Sanders.

Breanna has gone through more pain in her life than most. Yesterday, after a CT scan she was told her hip was broken at 27 years old. I just want to try to give her some relief this Christmas!

Breanna has tried to move into her own home but needs various updates due to unforeseen circumstances and will also need to be updated to be handicap accessible. This money could be used for medical appointments, bills, travel, repairs for home to be handicap accessible, etc.

Backstory on how Breanna got here:

While walking to classes at WVU, she started having pain in her hips. Then she went to an orthopedic doctor and she had impingements in both hips. In 2017, she had two surgeries. First was a success but second one, during physical therapy, was injured. She had surgery done on her left and right hip. The PT injury caused the capsule to burst and incisions to go into it, etc. This injury altered her life in some many was unimaginable.

She then transferred to WV State and because of all the health issues she was having she lost all of her scholarships, etc. Breanna had all of her college paid for but she had to quit school after not being able to walk without assistance. Sitting up even hurt her and she spent most of her days in bed. The doctor tried to do a revision within 2 months but the damage had been done and with the PT injury her nerves were also injured. After continuous issues coming up like blood pressure plummeting, heart issues, etc, they discovered she has Eds along with a gigantic list of other issues.

The nerve injury caused CRPS which is the worst pain disorder you can possibly have. She scored a 47 out of 50 on the pain scale which is considered worse than giving birth. She had another surgery in 2021 and the doctor wanted to do a donor graft but knew it wouldn’t have helped and she needed a total hip replacement. So, he just tightened the capsule and sent her out of state to the only doctor who was willing to do her hip replacement at 25. It took all of 5, almost 6 years just to get the surgery she needed because no one in the state wanted to take such a complicated case.

Ehlers Danlos Sydrome is a group of inherited disorders that affect your connective tissues — primarily your skin, joints and blood vessel walls. Connective tissue is a complex mixture of proteins and other substances that provide strength and elasticity to the underlying structures in your body.

Since the last surgery she has still been in pain and told several doctors that she is still hurting and was told it is due to her nerves misfiring which is the CRPS. She needs an ablation, spinal cord stimulator, and if the stimulator doesn’t work out (it’s rare they do), a pain pump. But, within the last 11 days she has experienced a new pain to the point she cannot put weight on her left leg. Finally she got an er physician to listen and do a CT scan where he found her hip is broken, specifically her acetabulum which is a rare injury to have.

On top of all of this Breanna has been diagnosed with other health conditions such as POTS, MACS, endometriosis, PCOS, chronic fatigue pain syndrome, reflux from esophageal flap, arthritis, TMJD, fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, etc.

Please consider donating to Breanna to give her some relief. It won’t give her relief of pain but maybe we can give her some relief of mind knowing some things can be fixed and paid for. It’s hard watching someone you love go through unimaginable circumstances with no way to help.
