Help Support Jamaica’s Recovery After Hurricane Melissa
Hello, my name is Akeem , and I’m managing this fundraiser on behalf of my parents, Moses and Victoria Whyte — proud members of the Windrush Generation who emigrated from Jamaica many years ago.
In recent weeks, we’ve watched with heartbreak as Hurricane Melissa devastated the island, leaving towns destroyed and countless families without homes, food, clean water, or medical care. Many of our parents’ friends, relatives, and neighbours have lost everything. What was already a country facing economic hardship is now struggling even more to meet even the most basic needs.
Mom and Dad feel a deep sense of duty to help the people and community that shaped them. Through this fundraiser, we are working to send barrels of non-perishable food, relief supplies, and essential items directly to those affected — anything to make the long road to recovery just a little easier.
With the Jamaican government temporarily removing import duties on relief items, every small donation can go even further. No amount is too small — each contribution helps fill another barrel and brings hope to a family in need.
We are profoundly grateful for your kindness, generosity, and consideration during this difficult time. Together, we can help rebuild lives and restore hope in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
