Reliable Wheels for Lucille’s Vet Visits

Hi, everyone. I really wish I didn’t have to write something like this, but I’m at a point where I can’t see another way forward.
If you’ve followed along, you know that my car is breaking down constantly. It’s a 2002, and this past week alone, I’ve taken it to two different mechanics after it broke down on a bridge and almost killed me. One of them replaced the steering belt and other issues. The other replaced the brake system today. I’ve spent endless amounts of money on this car—because I can’t afford another one yet and I need a vehicle.
And it’s still not working.
Today, after all that, the steering wheel and the brakes started failing while I was driving home and almost caused a terrible accident twice. I’m currently sitting on the side of the road for another tow truck—for what feels like the hundredth time lately. It’s terrifying and exhausting. This car isn’t safe and is constantly putting me and Lucille in dangerous situations. And I’ve reached a point where I know it can’t be fixed anymore—it’s just too old and too far gone. I’ve had 8 different mechanics in the past few months alone try to fix the various problems with no luck.
The hardest part of all of this is that I rely on this car to get my senior cat, Lucy, to her arthritis appointments. She needs adequan injections twice a week to stay comfortable. It’s imperative that she goes 2x a week for these next 8 weeks for it to be effective.z These appointments make a huge difference in her quality of life. But last week, I had to miss one because of my car being broken down. And now I’m going to miss another.
I live in a rural area with zero public transportation or Uber. It doesn’t exist out here. When my car goes down, I have no way to get anywhere. I can’t walk anywhere, I can’t bike, there are no services… I need a vehicle.
I hate asking for help, and I know everyone is already struggling. If you’re not in a position to give, I truly understand. But for the people who have asked me to set this up and asked where to help—I would be so grateful. Even just a few dollars makes a difference!!
And if all you can do is share this, that helps more than you know!!
Thank you for reading this, and for caring about me and Lucille!!
