Raising funds to secure safe and reliable transportation for my autistic child and myself.

In 2023, I accidentally purchased a lemon from CarMax. After 2 years of frankensteining it together, it finally died. I still owe 10k on the loans for this car, that I have not had since the spring. Due to this (and some medical bills) I am in the process of filing bankruptcy.

We have been able to get by on public transit and bicycles. However, it has been taking a large toll on our mental health. We are not able to socialize, make regular grocery runs, see family, and engage in life fully without a car.

We have also experienced violence on public transit, which has made an already exhausting mode of transportation, one filled with anxiety.

A man approached my child on the MAX and spit food into their face. Since then it has become even more challenging to navigate transit with my autistic child, who was already struggling with their sensory issues using this mode of transportation.

The reality is that public transit is not a place where we feel safe based on our experiences. And the majority of our community lives outside of the reach of transit lines, we are experiencing isolation, and are asking for help.
