Relamp's Paralympic Dreams Come True
Donation protected
What an amazing journey! It has just started for this kid! Relamp came to our family through the foster care program. At the time, his dreams of ever reaching the world championship or US Paralympic level were fleeting. Now that he is officially and forever part of our family, we will make sure he is given every opportunity to reach his dream of competing at this level.
Our family will be heading to Phoenix Arizona for the Desert Challenge Games for time trials. At this time he will be nationally classified and have a chance to compete in the Desert Games. He will for once have a chance to compete among other athletes that have similar or the same disability as him. For those of you who don't know him, Relamp was born with bilateral club hands or bilateral radial dysplasia. He was born without a radius in both arms, thumbs and has a bowed ulna. This makes some day to day tasks a challenge. Although you wouldn't see any difficulty when you meet him. He is amazing! Relamp developed a love of running at a young age and used it as a way to escape the problems he faced. Now it has turned into a dream. Relamp's specialty is distance running as well as high jump. Through his high school he has already met the times required to compete. It it now time for us to make it official!
Relamp, and his 3 siblings (who are now part of our forever family) have encouraged Relamp and each other to never give up. They have been through so much and are 4 of the strongest, bravest and most amazing kids I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Despite his disability and rough childhood Relamp has always reached for the stars! He is encouraging and uplifting. He makes you feel like you can do anything just being in his presence. He does so much for others and now it is time for us to do something for him. Please if you can help us raise money to get him to Arizona to compete for his dream. We would appreciate any amount. We all want to be present to watch history! Nothing is going to stop him! His journey has just begun and I'm so glad our new larger family is along for the ride!
