Parnassus Cafe, founded in 1951 by art students, was a gathering space very close to our hearts. It was closed due to budget concerns and Covid downturns; we want to bring it back as a self-sufficient lounge with a coffee vending machine.

This is important to not just art students but art appreciators alike who enjoyed the space. Non-art students have less of a reason to frequent the building. We hope to keep the art program and Art building lively by revamping the space and inviting audience members of the Jacob Lawrence Art Galley as it has its newest season of exhibitions in the coming weeks.

All proceeds will go towards getting this vending machine and reopening the space as well as reinstating the Parnassus Scholarship Fund.
