Reign’s Intussusception Surgery
Donation protected
Most recent update: Reign went into surgery around 6:15 last night and got out right after 7. He got home around 2:30pm today. He has a 6-page care sheet and a bunch of medications. We are ready to love him and nurse him back to health!!
we were refunded from our $5000 deposit, $1800!! So everything cost $5500!! Seems like a bargain now

Previous Update: Trupanion won’t cover it because it’s a “pre-exisiting” condition and he had it before i signed him up. So I’ll owe about $7500-9000.

I never thought I’d be this person, but here we are.
We got Reign 3 weeks ago from a reputable breeder. He had diarrhea, but that’s normal. I waited a couple weeks to see if it would clear, but it didn’t. I brought him to the vet and the vet was immediately concerned. He was tested for parvo which came back negative. He was insistent i bring him to a hospital for an ultrasound.
That night, after work, I took him to MedVet Cincinnati. They were also immediately concerned. They tested his blood sugar which was low. They tested his feces for parasites, none were detected. They tested his blood which showed elevated white blood cells and indicates an infection. They kept him in the icu so he could be monitored and was on iv fluids through the night to get him stable.
He was diagnosed with Intussusception this morning and needs surgery. Basically his intestines have “telescoped” in on themselves.
My care credit card is maxed out because of the cost of getting him stable ($2500). MedVet was asking for $4000 as a deposit for the surgery. I explained that he has pet insurance through trupanion that covers 90% but they don’t use insurance up front. The insurance company only does reimbursements.
I called 3 more animal hospitals and got a cheaper quote for the surgery but still need to put down $3500.
I’ve never owned a puppy before and I didn’t know this would happen and didn’t know how the insurance works.
Please know I have tried so many things and this is my last idea that could potentially work.
I invested in him to be an emotional support dog for my growing family and he is like our child. If he doesn’t get this surgery, he could die at only 13 weeks.
Anything you can donate will help!!
Thank you❤️
