I wasn’t planning this.
I found him by accident - a small, sad heartbroken donkey in a Texas kill pen. His face stopped me. Rope burns covered his body, which is thin and starved. He was trembling, terrified… and his eyes told the whole story. Completely defeated. Empty. Like he had already given up on life.
He’s been neglected, abused, and worked to exhaustion his entire life. He’s never known safety. He’s never known love. And within hours, he was going to be loaded onto a crowded truck and shipped to slaughter.
I couldn’t sleep. I reached out to the kill pen and bought him.
He’s now at a temporary farm in Cleburne where he’s receiving food and a health check, but they can only keep him for a short time. I’m covering the costs daily, but it’s not a long-term solution. I’m in touch with sanctuaries across the country and working every day to secure him a forever home. Right now, I have two options on the East Coast. Once he’s strong enough, he’ll need professional transport to reach a permanent rescue where he’ll be safe and loved.
This is where I need your help.
Safe transportation from Texas to the rescue sanctuary in Florida costs $1,500. I wish there were a cheaper way, but there isn’t. Cutting corners means cramming him into overcrowded trailers where donkeys often collapse, get injured, or even die on the road. After everything he’s endured, I refuse to put him through more suffering.
Every dollar will go directly toward:
• Safe, professional transport from Texas to a rescue sanctuary
• Food, nutrition, and vet care while he regains strength
• A forever home where he’ll for the first time know love, safety, and peace
If you can’t donate, sharing this helps more than you know.
This isn’t just about saving one donkey. It’s about choosing compassion over cruelty. Let’s get him home.
