Who Are We?
Empire is the largest Live-Action Roleplaying Game set in the United Kingdom, ran by Profound Decisions and running over four weekends in a year and hosting over 2000 players who play as characters in ten diverse nations.
We represent the Carta Notturno in The League and we have been running the Imperial Theatre since 2019 as an entirely not-for-profit platform for would-be script-writers, actors, songwriters, poets and musicians throughout the game. Currently Profound Decisions kindly lend us a tent to use to host our theatre but sadly this will not be possible past the first event of 2020.
Why Are We Fundraising?
This fundraiser is aiming to raise money for the group to purchase a permanent home for theatre. We would ideally like to purchase a similar or identical canvas army tent as is currently used and have sourced options for purchase already.
It is our aim to make not only a theatre for the use of a single nation, but one for all players to enjoy and work towards developing, with representatives from nearly all nations forming a 'Board of Directors'. As such, no funds raised will be used by any individual and all donations will go directly to the purchase of a new theatre tent.
What Will Your Donations Fund?
The style of tent we are looking to purchase is that of a 24 x 18ft British Army tent and the team has done research across multiple sources to identify a maximum figure to cover the cost of purchase, tax, shipping on a pallet and the purchase of any additional guy ropes and pegs to withstand the Empire weather machine.

Promotional Events
To promote our cause and also as a way of highlighting the brilliant entertainers and creators at Empire LRP, we are partnering with Stephen Robert Howell aka Mac on his Twitch channel to deliver Tent Aid, a sparkling evening of performance, dramatic readings and personal interviews with individuals who have had their experiences of live-action roleplay enriched by the Imperial Theatre. Provisionally set for April 24th at 6pm, you can view the announcement at https://www.facebook.com/events/588249318446970/permalink/592004731404762/

Frequently Asked Questions
How will the tent be stored and maintained between events and transported to events?
The current theatre player group has already identified that we have adequate capability to securely store the equipment between events. We have a range of individuals who can transport the necessary equipment and we are working to establish a rota system, hierarchy of responsibility and planned failsafes to ensure the theatre is always on site for those who wish to perform. The theatre members already have experience with the assembly and maintenance of army tents, as that is what is currently used for the theatre.
What happens to the tent if the current theatre 'owners' can no longer attend Empire?
This tent is being purchased for the entire Empire LARP community and, as such, this tent will be part of the permanent Imperial Theatre property. To put it simply, it does not belong to one group so if, in game, you take over running it from the current Carta Notturno then you will also gain ownership of the tent as well as a friendly group of people who can give a lot of advice and assistance regarding the maintenance and assembly of the theatre
What will happen if we exceed our target?
In that brilliant scenario, our 'stretch goals' would go towards repairing and replacing the seating for the Theatre and adding to the 'theatre box' of set dressing. All funds will go towards making a beautiful, immersive and accessible theatre for the players
