Hi my name is Karega Walters, (known as Shamari to my close friends and family). In 2017 i was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer at the age of 35. Since then I have had over 20 rounds chemotherapy, 3 rounds of radiation therapy, 2 liver ablations, and 2 surgeries to stop the growth of and spread of this Stage 4 ColoRectal Cancer. The side effects of these treatments have left my immune system weakened and compromised, which has led me to seek help from Jesse Stoff, MD who has extensive credentials in immunology and integrative medicine focused on the treatment of cancers and autoimmune diseases. The goal of this treatment will be working towards healing my body and reboosting my immune system through integrative medicinal treatments. I am 100% covered under my job medical plan, but unfortunately Dr. Stoff is a private practice who does not accept my insurance. I have been getting support from my friends and family over the last few years. With the encouragement from my friends and family, I have decided to share my journey with the world to educate and be of help to others facing a similar situation as me. Colorectal Cancer is not a cancer that targets men under the age of 50. Spreading awareness can help in showing the world that cancer has no face and the need to seek medical attention when your body speaks to you.
