My name is Raeanne Maier and I have known Rehema for three years. I am a friend of the family here in Spokane, WA. Rehema is one of the most beautiful, spirited, and loving children that I have ever met. Her smile can light up an entire room and she is incredibly kind. Rehema this year was so excited to start preschool where her three older siblings also go to school. In her preschool classroom she is loved and adored not only by the teachers but the other students. Her parents both work very hard to provide for their children since leaving the Congo. Her mother works nights and her father works during the day in order for a parent to always be there to pick up their children from school and help with homework. This family is loved by their nieghbors and the members of their church because they are always happy, loving, and willing to help anyone in need. On October 24th Rehema got too close to the space heater that was used to keep them warm and was badly injured. Her mother tried to put the fire out and get Rehema out of the home causing injuries to her own hands and legs. Her father is able to communicate with doctors and refuses to leave his wife and daughter's side. Rehema has a long recovery ahead of her and doctors are saying it could be 2-3 months until she is able to come home to Spokane. Due to the injuries his wife has suffered and because Chenzi himself is unable to work since Rehema is in Seattle I am trying get donations to pay for their rent, food, uncovered medical expenses, and travel expenses. The family is very thankful for all of the prayers that have been said by the wonderful poeple of Spokane. They are overwhelmed with all of the amazing organizations such as the Red Cross.
