Hi, my name is Carmen
I started off with one tiny starling that my cat brought in. I couldn’t just leave it. It’s common knowledge that there isn’t a lot of support available to people caring for wild birds.
Then I got a name for myself and was given a wren. Who I managed to release back into to the wild which was immensely rewarding. From then on people via Facebook have brought some more wild birds needing rehabilitation. We now team up with most of the local vets in and around stowmarket and surrounding areas. We have successfully rehabilitated and realised 8 birds in the past 2 months.
I have hand reared babies from hatchlings, I have had juveniles that have been attacked by cats. They just need time and TLC to recover before they can be released.
There are lot of expenses involved for antibiotics. Vet bills. Food. Vitamins. Enclosures and blankets, as well as heat mats for the tiny babies, that cannot regulate their own temperature.
This is something I would love to continue and I have support from many of the local veterinary practices, who will even call me if they have a bird that’s received treatment and needs a place to stay.
